Having already seen a £500,000 bid laughed at by Swansea, reports in today's paper suggest that the bidding will pass the £750,000 barrier this week with Paul Jewell seemingly determined to land his man.
The reports suggest as well that Nathan Ellington is the latest target for the worst Premiership side in history which should finally cosh any rumours that there was truth in the £2m for Jason Scotland story.
But it is the pursuit of Bodde that will worry Swans fans the most. The player stated at the weekend that he was ready to face the Championship with Swansea but also stated that you never know what is around the corner and that his agent would be dealing with any interest until such a time that it became something he needed to consider.
Derby seem determined on this one and if the reports are right then the phone of Huw Jenkins will be ringing at some stage this week with the improved bid. As a guess I would say that £750,000 will receive the same treatment as the previous bid but it will push the bidding closer to a figure that would be acceptable to Swansea.
"He is a player we have been watching for a long time and I know the manager Paul Jewell sees him as an important signing. " said Derby Chairman Adam Pearson
"He is a target that is uppermost in our thoughts. It might take time but we hope we'll be able to secure him."
