Harper has been the subject of a rumoured move to the North East with both Middlesbrough and Newcastle alleged to be interested in making a move for the player and retain his services in the Premier League following Reading's relegation at the end of last season.
And should any of that interest go further – or indeed anyone else comes in – then the Reading Chronicle reports that they will make a move for the midfielder who the Swans signed last summer from Den Haag.
Bodde has already been the subject of a failed £500,000 bid from Derby with reports earlier in the week suggesting that the bidding could go higher with a £750,000 bid expected imminently. And if Reading were to enter the fray as well that could very soon stretch the offers past the seven figure barrier – the clubr record fee received last summer when Lee Trundle moved to Bristol City.
Royals manager Steve Coppell is currently on holiday and is due to return next week but Director of football at the Madejski Nick Hammond said “I’ve just come back from abroad and I will sit down with Steve Coppell when he returns from his holidays
“I will bring Steve up to speed on the conversations I’ve been having and we will talk about the squad in more detail.
“We’ve had a couple of chats over the phone and Steve is very focused, he’s had a good rest and he’s upbeat about the challenge ahead.”
The Swans resolve to hold onto their midfielder could yet be tested even further as interest in Bodde rises.
