Doncaster have already agreed a club record breaking deal to land Mills who played a large proportion of last season on loan at Doncaster – making 34 league appearances en route to a play off final victory over Leeds United at Wembley.
And a week after losing influential player Paul Green to Derby the paper believes that Swansea are trying to snatch the defender from under their noses and state without any doubt that the Swans will be able to offer Mills a better deal than the Yorkshire side already have.
Doncaster Chairman John Ryan told the paper "We are under no illusions that next season is going to be tough and, if we don't get relegated, that will be regarded as a success.
"But I know a lot of the players are confident that we can do well. They have looked at what Hull and Bristol City have achieved in the last couple of seasons and think that may be possible for us too."
21 year old Mills signed for Manchester City back in 2006 for £250,000 from Southampton but has played just twice for them – in away defeats to Chelsea and Wigan back in 2006 in the Premiership. Loan spells at Colchester and Doncaster have led to him seeking a move away from Eastlands and that appeared certain to be the Keepmoat stadium until this move today.
There has been no linking of the player in the South Wales press with the only report so far being this one in today's Yorkshire post but Mills certainly appears to be a decent player based on limited views of him last season although whether the Swans are prepared to pay this much money for the player remains to be seen.
