Derby County Ready To Match Swans Valuation?

Reports on the myswans.co.uk website last night suggested that Derby are ready to meet the £2m valuation for the Swans although it seems highly unlikely that they will have run from a basic £750,000 to £2,000,000 in one foul swoop.

The likelihood has to be that the deal could eventually be worth £2m to the Swans rather than anything else based on the fact that both the £500k and £750k were reported as having add-ons attached.

The difficulty for the Swans if this is true will be the reality of whether these add-ons will happen.  For example if one was appearances then there is a fair chance so long as the number is reasonable it would happen – same possibly with promotion but if one was a top 10 Premiership finish then it's not overly likely to ever come to fruition.

The Swans have long since said that £2m was their minimum price for Bodde and on that basis they would have to be confident that they would get the full figure or be able to persuade Den Haag that they can have the same percentage of the add-ons?

But what happens from here will be an interesting one as the Swans record transfer fee received looks likely to be broken – they received £1m for the sale of Lee Trundle last summer – with Bodde on his way to a Championship rival.

But with Huw Jenkins having promised that any funds received will go back into the squad for strengthening this could be a break for Roberto and whilst losing a player like Ferrie is a blow for the Swans it could turn out to be for the better if we can use the money wisely and you suspect Roberto will do that.

Let's see what Derby do next…..
