The Premiership side are searching for a manager after former Wales boss Mark Hughes departed to Manchester City last week and the name of Martinez is currently trading as fourth favourite on betfair at the moment.
And with their favourite – Alan Shearer – ruling himself out of the running, Martinez jumps up a place in the ranking behind Sam Allardyce and MK Dons boss Paul Ince.
The write up on betfair says of Roberto "Martinez has done a great job at Swansea and, like Ince, has a lower league success on his CV. It's rare for a Premier League club to appoint a manager from the lower leagues these days, especially one who wasn't a big name player, so I'd be surprised if the Spaniard was appointed. Especially as he has only been a manager since February 2007"
And that is probably a fair assessment. Martinez would be an extreme shock choice and not one that Blackburn would go for but as he continues to impress, the progression of the Swans becomes essential to his own personal progression.
He won't end up at Blackburn but it won't be the only job that he is linked with this season.
