Ferrie House Hunting Says Derby County

A host of clubs are lining up this summer to complain about Derby's handling of transfer affairs and you would expect a side swipe back from somewhere in Swansea over Pearson's latest comments.

After a pursuit already lasting several weeks, Derby remain confident that they will get their man from Swansea although Pearson still believes that the Swans are looking for a fee that is OTT for the midfielder who cost just £85k last summer from Den Haag.

The Swans have been adamant that they want a minimum £2m for the player with a 50% sell on clause due to Den Haag from the proceeds in the sale.

And whilst Derby's bid is reported as being "up to £2m" the Swans are in no hurry to accept the offer with Huw Jenkins stating that he will get back to them when he is ready and has not given them a timescale.

Pearson though believes the deal is a done one and that the player has already started to scour the property market for somewhere for him and his family to live.  Speaking in today's Derby Evening Telegraph he says “The player has made it absolutely clear that he wants to go to Derby – he's definitely not been misquoted

“I think the situation is he's even looking for houses in Derby. We're not fuelling that (speculation). It's the agents who are fuelling that because, obviously, they want to get a better deal. I think they feel that the fee we've put in is fair.

“To be fair to Swansea, he's their player and they will ask for whatever fee they want but I know the player wants to come and he is absolutely adamant he wants to play his football here. How that leaves his situation at Swansea is for them to decide.”

Derby's handling of the affair has left much to be desired at times and it adds to complaints from Stockport, Sheffield United and Tranmere over handling of some transfers by the Pride Park club.

Ironically Pearson ends his rant today with a reference to the recent transfer of Kenny Miller from Derby to Rangers by saying “When people are after our players, these things take a long time. The negotiation with Rangers for Kenny Miller took a long time because you want the best fee for your club.”

But only when the boot is on the other foot Adam eh?
