At the end of another week that saw Derby show interest, Ferrie state he wanted to leave and then Derby giving up the chase amid contradictory stories from the two Chairmen, the Swans will now take the want away midfielder on their tour to Sweden.
And with that decision Roberto has also refused to believe that Derby have given up on signing the player – a staterment that he believes is part of normal transfer negotiation.
Much has also been made of the fact that Ferrie's constant desire to leave could upset one of the best squad togetherness that we have ever seen at the club – a thought train that Martinez is more than happy to dismiss as he looks to the big day whichh is just 5 weeks away – Swansea's first game at this level for 24 years.
Martinez has already seen departures from the Liberty this summer and Ferrie looks certain to be another one that joins that list but there has been more incomings already and that in itself stands the squad in good stead for the new season.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Martinez said "Ferrie's a player in demand, and all the top teams have got players in demand
"In that respect we are happy to be in this situation. Ferrie is someone we were desperate to sign 12 months ago and he has shown why. He is a top quality player and the interest is normal.
"But he is a Swansea City player until something else happens and he is coming to Sweden with us.
"I've seen this time after time," he added in relation to Derby's end of the pursuit.
"It was the same when Ronaldinho joined Barcelona from Paris St Germain and you always get this sort of thing. It's all part of negotiation.
"It will take more than something like this to upset us when we are looking forward to our most exciting season in 24 years.
"We have a very competitive, very healthy squad where everyone works hard and no distractions will affect that."
