And after a successful tour personally of Spain, Orlandi flies back with the rest of the squad today ready to take on the last three friendlies of pre-season as Roberto finalises his plans for the opening Championship fixture at Charlton.
And Orlandi seems to be reasonably near the front of that selection process after Roberto declared yesterday that the player had the best left foot in the Championship: “I’m not so sure about that one,” he told the Western Mail
“But, of course, it’s a great compliment. I’ve been very grateful to the gaffer because he’s talked highly of me for a while, even though I haven’t been able to show as much on the pitch because of injury.
“It’s good to get that kind of support from your manager and I just hope I can help play a part in his plans.
“I think I have done okay, but it is not because I am back in Spain and wanting to impress at home, it is simply because I am feeling ready.
“I think the whole team is ready for a big challenge this season, against big clubs, many of who are potential Premier League teams. I know what’s needed and now I can’t wait to get started.”
