Bodde struck from all of 45 yards for the Swans opening goal on 19 minutes last night, unleashing a shot that flew into the back of the net.
And whilst Bodde says that he practices that in training, Martinez was – at the end of the match – enthusing over the talent that he managed to keep at the club during the course of the summer.
Speaking after the match Martinez told the Western Mail โThat was some goal โ and Iโm sure any supporter here to see it will remember it for a very long time.
โBut if anyone can do that type of thing on any given week then itโs Ferrie. Heโs got the talent to try anything and to see that one go in gives you a great feeling.
โIโve not seen many players strike a ball as well as he does, whether itโs with his right foot or his left, thatโs the kind of talent we are talking about.
โAnd although itโs ridiculous to make comparisons in football, in terms of technique itโs very similar to the way the Brazillian Juninho at Lyon hits the ball. The technique he has makes it so tough for the goalkeeper to read the flight of the ball โ but Ferrieโs was certainly as good as anything Iโve seen from him.
โIt was an all-round performance from Ferrie that was pleasing โ he knew he would be suspended for Saturday and he wanted to grab these 90 minutes and he did that. We all know what type of player he is and when he is enjoying his football like he did here then it can be very special to see.โ
