Two late Bournemouth goals spoiled what could have been a potential promotion party at the Liberty and ensured that the side destined for League Two went away with all three points (match report here)
And with Vokes likely to start today’s game he is looking for a repeat of that result to get Wolves back on track after they suffered their first league defeat of the season against Reading on Tuesday night.
Around 18000 are expected to be in attendance this afternoon and Vokes hopes that will help his side onto victory.
Looking back to that game in April, Vokes told the Western Mail “They were flying at the top of the table, but we went down there and caused a real upset
“We were 1-0 down in injury time, then ended up winning 2-1. It was a great game to be involved in.
“It would be great to be travelling back with three points again because it is a massive game for us. We need to bounce back from the defeat to Reading.
“We slipped up on Tuesday and have to show we can react the right way to losing. We will go out there and really compete.
“It was disappointing to lose our unbeaten record, but we have been playing well this season and just need to work on the positives from that. There are plenty of positives.
“We have a few injuries but, already this season, even before Tuesday, we have had players injured and still played against tough teams and done well.
‘‘So we will just keep on doing the same things and hopefully the injuries won’t cost us too much.
“I’m dying to be involved,” he added. “But I’ll have to wait and see.
“Even with a few injuries in the squad there’s a lot of competition, so I just have to be ready for action if and when I’m called on.”
