Roberto believes that the midfielder’s knee is now 110% ready and has also used him in recent games for the Swans.
Tudur Jones has linked up with the Welsh squad ahead of their qualifying double header over the next week or so and Roberto believes that he could play a key role in trying to help Wales qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
Speaking to the Evening Post, the Swans manager said “He should be in line to play
“Owain had two years out of the game but his knee is 110 per cent and is stronger than what it was, so physically he is there.
“We are slowly working him into a 90-minute scenario. He came on for us at Preston at half-time and he did an excellent job.
“Owain is the next captain of the Wales senior team. How long that will take will depend on the challenges given to him.
“He gives you a perfect blend in that midfield. He can give you great partnerships. He is well capable of doing the other role and has many dimensions in his play.
“We do need to remember he is a very young man but he is progressing every time.
“Now he is back to a good level of fitness and he is starting to reach his full potential.
“When he reaches that he will be one of the important players in the Welsh set-up.”
