Aston Villa defender Stephen O’Halloran became the 5th loan player to be at the Liberty Stadium yesterday when he joined on a two month loan spell.
And Roberto has seen all too often how loan moves can turn into permanent stays after the initial period – highlighting Alan Tate and Leon Britton of the current squad as class examples.
Both had loan spells at the club during the fight against relegation to the confrence and both have now celebrated almost six years at the club.
Speaking to the Western Mail, the Swans boss said โPlayers have come here on loan before and made big impacts and I would love to see the ones here now to do the same
โA loan period can help you understand and get attached to the football club and that can help you enjoy your football and bring out the best in you as a player.
โI think it is good to have that initial short spell that gives the player the chance to see if he likes the way a club works, likes his role in it and to find out if he would like to be part of the club over a longer term. In terms of Stephen, you never can tell โ but you could not rule it out.โ
