He may seem a million miles off Readfing’s Kevin Doyle or Cardiff City’s Ross McCormack but Jason Scotland is the leading Swans player in the latest set of Actim Stats that were released yesterday.
Scotland – three league goals to his credit this season – finds himself in 76th place in the Championship table, two places ahead of team mate Ashley Williams.
Actim Stats are a collection of team, player and match statistics.
They are derived from all the actions that take place during a match, including goals, shots on target, corners, fouls, offsides, passes, tackles, blocks and clearances. The raw data can be used to generate a wide range of tables and statistics such as player profiles, team and player head-to-heads and form guides.
PA Sport gathers match data for every Barclays English Premier League, Coca-Cola Championship and Scottish Premier League game.
The data is gathered by two methods – real-time match analysis and the study of video footage. The real-time analysis is conducted by ex-professional footballers that report on action at the grounds as it happens. Further, more detailed analysis is obtained by studying videos of the matches.
Scotland has attracted much criticism this season for his performances but the statistics show that clearly he is doing something that impresses the people that collate these factors.
Viewed by many as the Swans leading light so far this seaso, Ferrie Bodde is the only other Swans player in the top 100 – he sits in 90th place, level with the footballing legend that is Rory Fallon.ย ย ย Just seven points seperate the three Swans players.
The leading player in the Championship is Reading’s impressive Kevin Doyle with Ross McCormack of Cardiff in 2nd place and Stephen Hunt of Reading in 3rd.
