The Swansea City manager insists that it is a case of keeping the good form going but at the same time knows that he won’t want his side to be on the wrong end of a second consecutive defeat at the Ricoh Arena.
He is backed by a statistic that the Swans are let to lose two consecutive league games under his management – well, in the same season anyway – and that is a record that they will be looking to keep going this evening as they try once again to break into the division’s top six.
โI was delighted with our performance against Birmingham,โ Martinez told the Western Mail.
โThe result could have been a lot different if we had been a bit more clinical.
โWe had them against the ropes, we were the better side overall in every department and the result sometimes is just a circumstance.
โYou have an ex-international striker like Kevin Phillips then who only seems to need one chance to score two goals!
โIn my eyes it was not a defeat. Our performance was enough for me to take something positive from it.
โIt will be a completely different game. We are away from home in a fantastic arena,โ said Martinez.
โCoventry are coming in off the back of a very good result and their confidence will be high.
โWe need to be ready and we are desperate to go there and get rid of that bad feeling we had on Friday night.
โChris is a Swansea boy and he enjoyed his time here and that will never go away,โ added Martinez.
โBut once you start a game he will only have eyes for Coventry and making sure they win.โ
