Swansea City could be without the services of Spanish striker Gorka Pintado for the whole of January through a hernia injury.

Keen to finally rectify an ongoing problem with the 30 year old’s hernia, medical staff at the club now face a tricky decision when the San Sebastian born player will go under the surgeons knife. Swans physio Richie Evans equates the problem to the different rigours posed on foreign players in British football as he told the SWEP, he said “ “This is quite a common problem in the game as the bodies of some players are still getting used to the demands of the British game.”

Monitoring his condition, Evans has revelled that the striker has felt some pain in training and in matches but has indicated that they want to delay the decision of when Pintado undergoes the operation but it seems likely that he will be sidelined for the rest of next month.

“Gorka has had pain and discomfort in the abdominal area sometimes after training or matches, but we are monitoring it on a daily basis.

“We want to delay it for as long as we can as we are attempting to identify the best possible date for this.At the moment it looks like the end of this month or early January. Then, when he has the operation, there will be a rehabilitation period of between two to four weeks.”
