Swansea City undertook no deadline day activity yesterday with nobody coming into the club and nobody out as Roberto put his faith in the players that have done him so proud this season.
Although the club had hoped to secure permanent moves for Jordi Gomez and Nathan Dyer but there was no need for the panic as the Swans can still complete these permanent moves outside of the window (after 7 days of it being closed) as they are on long term loan deals. The loan window also opens next week and that is expected to see the extension of Dimi’s loan.
Martinez said “We don’t put ourselves in a panic situation or work in a deadline
“We’re working with Nathan until the end of the season, we want to make sure he enjoys his stay at Swansea City, that he enjoys his football and progresses his career.
“After that, whatever happens will happen. I’m not bothered at all. I want to keep improving as a football club and Nathan is going to be a big part of it.
“We want a deal right for Dimi, us and Coventry
“We have not got a deadline because the loan market opens, but it is a situation we want solved.
“We do want him to stay with us until the end of the season.”
Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post “We didn’t try to complete any deals yesterday because there was no need
“The two players we have on standard loans, Jordi Gomez and Nathan Dyer, can be converted into full-time signings at any time up until the last week of March.
“We have checked up on the regulations and we knew we didn’t have to work towards yesterday’s deadline.
“That is not to say that anything will definitely happen because, as I’ve said previously, we will only do a deal if it’s on our terms.
“But the fact is that we can look to secure Nathan and Jordi before the summer and that’s something we are considering.”
