Monk was speaking out a week after a coin was thrown that struck official Mike Dean in the derby draw at Ninian Park.

And it follows a long drawn out week where Cardiff have promised to identify and ban anyone found guilty of throwing a coin and calls for them to be deducted points as a result.

But Monk does not believe that is fair and told News of the World "You don't want to see clubs get points deducted because of a few idiots.   Cardiff have earned those points.  They've got them on merit.

"To take points away from Cardiff would be too harsh in my opinion.

"Maybe when this sort of thing happens clubs should be made to play a game behind closed doors."
