The Swans boss has been actively seeking new additions to his depleted squad since he arrived at the Liberty, and he says he’s edging closer to sealing the deals.

Southampton frontmen Marek Saganowski and Grzegorz Rasiak have been strongly linked in the past few weeks, along with NEC Nijmigen striker John van Beukering and Millwall defender Zak Whitbread.

Fans have been crying out for new signings, moreso after the 2-1 defeat at Leicester which exposed some glaring frailties in Sousa’s squad.

“We have made some progress, and I think in the next few days we will have some new players here,” he told the Evening Post.

“How many? I would just say some players.

“I don’t want to talk about any players until they are in my squad, but the chairman has made a lot of effort with me to get the right players.

“I hope we can get them in as soon as possible.”
