Slade’s Swans Verdict

Two goals from summer signing Stephen Dobbie along with one from Garry Monk sealed a satisfying 3-0 win, which Slade believes was no more than Paulo Sousa’s men deserved.

“We were deservedly beaten to be honest,” he told the Brighton official site.

“In the first period I thought that they played some really slick football and gave a polished performance. They deserved to be one-nil up at the very least.

“I switched it round a little bit at half-time. Jake came off because he got a yellow card and we were bordering on losing him and I don’t think you need to be in the situation where you are playing with ten men.

“In the second period I thought for the first ten minutes just after half-time we looked a little bit more interested in trying to get a goal, but it wasn’t to be and they hit us on the counter. Effectively the second goal put paid to us trying to get back into the game.”
