There has been speculation this summer that Britton is looking to move closer to London and was ready to hand in a transfer request at the Liberty Stadium.
He will make his 300th appearance for the club on Saturday against Middlesbrough and insists that he has no thoughts about leaving the club he joined back in 2002.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Britton says “I don’t know where it’s all come from,
“I’ve heard it myself, I’ve had people ringing me and texting me asking about transfer requests and not being settled and I’m not really sure why.
“It’s all very wide of the mark.
“It’s always hard to know what will happen,
“I’ve got 12 months left on my contract but, to be honest, the focus is on these next few games we have coming up as it always is.
“When I first came here, I don’t think I could have thought that six years down the line I’d still be here.”
Britton also reflected on his arrival at the club as they fought against relegation to the Conference and added “I can remember it clearly, coming down and playing in a couple of friendly games as I was only on trial initially
“It was a bit of a case of us having a look at you and you having a look at us.
“We had to play Aston Villa at their training ground and then we played Forest Green on a Tuesday night when it was absolutely freezing.
“But I joined on loan then, played against Exeter, lost 1-0 and went on a six-game losing streak – so not the best of starts.
“They were difficult times, being bottom of the Football League and I can remember playing Bury and coming off at half-time 3-0 down and being booed by the odd thousand there.
“But I was just keen to play football, I’d been playing reserve team football in front of one man and his dog to that point.
“And the 299 games so far have been really enjoyable and it’s been a steady progression year after year. To get to 300 is a great landmark and shows I’ve been fortunate with injuries and lucky to hold my place in the team as we’ve gone up over the years.”
And let's hope there are many more to come…
