Trundle probably should have scored on his return to the Liberty yesterday but he steered his header wide just before the 90 minute mark which would have presented the Swans with an equaliser.

But his all round contribution left many optimistic that he can repeat the glory of his previous times at Swansea – not least his manager.

Sousa told Wales Online “Lee was a legend here and I see no reason why he cannot get us goals here again

“He brings a lot of enthusiasm. He is very strong in and around the box and we believe in these difficult moments he can help us.

“It’s not just to bring the fans to the stadium he needs to do something while he is here with us. He has not played so much recently and it is going to take time.

“But he had a chance to score in this game. He made the right decision to try and head it, but it just went wide.

“Craig is used to playing with another striker so it will take him time to adapt to our style of play. I believe he and Lee can play together and that is something we will use.

“I thought a draw was a fair result,” said Sousa.

“The players did not do the right thing leading to the goal, but we got a good reaction.

“Alan is a very honest player and brings a lot to the side so was delighted he got the goal.”
