Tate was the hero of the hour as he headed home the stoppage time equaliser for the Swans against Watford on Saturday.
He was in the perfect position to head in Mark Gower's free kick three minutes into stoppage time – a header that gave the Watford keeper no chance.
And it came just minutes after the returning Lee Trundle missed a glorious opportunity with his own head to bring the Swans level.
And that pleased Tate almost more than anything as he joked with the Evening Post "I've been trying to take the headlines away from him for a few years now, so it's nice to do it today
"Lee had a chance with his head when he came on, but heading's never been his strong point so we'll let him off with that.
"It was the first goal I've scored with my head for Swansea. I've scored with my right foot, my left foot and now a header, so that's me done now.
"It's a great time to get any goal. Unfortunately it was the equaliser because we were sloppy to concede the goal," said Tate.
"To concede with a pass down the side of the wall from a set piece was a case of people just switching off.
"Apart from the goal I think we restricted them to shots from 20 or 25 yards so it wasn't a poor defensive display, it was just one lapse in concentration which at this level you can't afford to do because you concede goals from it.
"For me personally I'm happy to get the goal. It means us going into the international break on a high when you rescue a point after you look like you're going to get beat."
