Allen has been struggling with injuries since the season’s opener at Leicester, where he was forced off after just 25 minutes of the first half.
Since then, the 19 year old has started just a single game – at home to Bristol City – but could be fit enough to travel to Portman Road next week.
“Obviously, being a Manchester United fan, Roy Keane is one of my favourite players of all time,” said Allen.
“It would be great to play in a game that he is involved in and hopefully I can prove I’m fit to travel.”Keane is a legend. He’s one of the best midfielders I’ve ever seen and it would be nice to meet him maybe.”He was a great player, one of my favourites, but obviously come next week I’m hoping I’ll be the one on the winning team.
“It’s been disappointing.
“I have only played a total of about 90 minutes and we’re 11 league games into the season.
“That’s frustrating, especially because things were looking good for me in pre-season.
“Now I’ve got a fight on my hands to get back in amongst the matchday squad, but there are still plenty of games to go so hopefully I will get plenty of opportunities.
“Without being too technical, it’s not just a simple hamstring strain.
“There’s a bit more to it than that and that’s why it has been a recurring problem, but this time I think we’ve got to the bottom of it and I’m responding well to treatment.
“As players we were disappointed with results at the start of the season but we always felt we had too much ability for things not to turn round,” he said.
“I think everyone can see the mood lifting now. The performances are getting better so hopefully we can keep climbing the table.”
