The Swansea City wide man admits he is a little surprised by comments about the result on Saturday being more important than the final position at the end of the season but also says he has spoken to his fellow Dutchmen about the signifcance of the fixture.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Cedric said “One of the fans even said to me that if we win against Cardiff, he wouldn’t care where we finish at the end of the season
“That’s really something.
“I have heard many stories about the match and how it’s really important for everybody in Swansea,” he added.
“A lot of the fans have come up to me and told me how important it is — they said you can’t imagine how much it means.
“I have spoken to Dorus de Vries and Ferrie Bodde about it and they have told me it’s a fantastic game to be involved in, so hopefully I will get the chance to experience it.
“We are nine games unbeaten and we are in good form,” van der Gun pointed out.
“It’s good to play like we did against Scunthorpe because it gives us some confidence for the match next week.
“Defensively we have been really strong and in the last couple of games we have created a lot of chances.
“We managed to take two of them here and, if we can keep on doing that, hopefully we will have enough points for the play-offs at the end of the season. That is our aim.”
