The Swansea City midfielder was a scorer on the last league meeting at the Liberty last season – when the scoreline finished 2-2.

And having played his part in the Swans current nine match unbeaten run, Pratley believes that the visit of Cardiff has come with perfect timing for the Swans as he told the Evening Post “We are in good shape for the derby

“It’s a big game, we all know that. We get told all the time how much it means to people when we are walking round the town.

“And we are going into the game on a good run and on the back of a good win, which is a big positive for us.

“Cardiff are in good form too — we respect them and we know it will be a tough game for us.

“It looks like it should be a good one when you look at the form of both sides, but hopefully we can claim the bragging rights.

“It’s the first fixture everyone looks for. We felt we had beaten them in the last derby when Joe Allen scored but then came the penalty.

“That meant honours were even over the two league games last season, so hopefully we can get one up on them next weekend.”

Pratley also recognised the significance of Saturday’s win by adding “They have been going well at home so we knew it was going to be a tough place to go and get a result

“But we owed Scunthorpe one after the Carling Cup game and thankfully we got the win.

“We were comfortable in possession. Sometimes when we go a goal up we can be a little bit shaky, but we were comfortable all through the game and I always felt we were going to win once we got in front.

“You look at the table and we are not far off. People said we had a slow start to the season but things are getting better for us and this division is wide open.”
