The Swansea City manager knows that victory over Cardiff City at the Liberty on Saturday will mean more to many than just three points and he wants to deliver that to the people of Swansea.
Having seen his side take their unbeaten league record to nine games with victory at Scunthorpe on Saturday, Paulo was wasting no time in looking forward to the next fixture and he told the Evening Post “I am excited about all the games we play, but of course I know that the next one is something special.
“We know it’s important and we are going to try to give happiness to our fans and our city.”
And looking back on the victory just gone he had words for both his goalscorers – Craig Beattie and Cedric Van Der Gun who grabbed his first Swans strike.
“Craig needs to score goals,” Sousa said. “This is the most important thing for a striker to keep their confidence up, but more than this with Craig is how he is trying to improve his game.
“His game now is different from the past and we are trying to help him improve to suit us.
“I hope he can carry on scoring goals, but I don’t only look to my strikers to do that.
“We need everyone to score, especially in this division where you need to take your opportunity when it comes.
“Cedric had not played for four months when he came in and he had not been training with a team.
“He had to settle into a new squad and that takes time, but he is someone we believe can help us.
“He has different qualities from the other players we have. He is dangerous in the box because he smells the goal and the areas to attack.”
