Swansea City are reported to be on the verge of breaking their transfer record again to sign Cotterill from Sheffield United to bolster their squad.

The Swans are heading towards one of the biggest squads in the division but despite that Sousa admits that he is always on the hunt for new players

“I have always said I only talk about players that are in my squad out of respect for my players and out of respect for the other club involved,” said Sousa when pressed on Cotterill by the Western Mail. “When there is a new player and a contract has been signed, then I will talk.

“But, regardless, I am always looking to improve and bring quality to the squad, whether that’s in England or around Europe, and looking for players to help us in the present and in the future.

“I will continue to do so and I am always close to bringing in new players.

“The problem is players want to stay here in Swansea – and work with me!” joked Sousa.

“But it is true, I am looking all the time to bring quality into the squad to give us more competition and tougher competition.”
