There were almost 18,000 present on Friday night as Swansea City moved into the play off positions in the Championship – their highest position for 26 years.
And after appealing last week for the fans to back the club Vice-Chairman Leigh Dineen and Manager Paulo Sousa have both thanked the fans for their support at the game.
Speaking via the official site, Dineen said “It was a fantastic effort and everyone at the club greatly appreciates it from the Board of Directors to the manager and the players
“Our challenge is to fill the stadium week in, week out, and we took a major step forward against Derby.
“Ticket income is by far the biggest revenue stream we control. It represents over 70 per cent of our total income and 1,000 missing fans over 23 games hits us hard. In fact, it hits us to the tune of about £500,000 per annum.
“That’s money we’d be able to invest in the first team or the youth department.”
While Paulo added “I set the fans a challenge to fill the stadium and they responded
“And I’m pleased we could give the fans the victory they deserved.
“I’m grateful for their support and with them behind us we can go far.”
