Dons boss Mark McGhee says that Dobbie ‘is a consideration’ for his side but refused to confirm whether a deal was in the pipeline for the former Queen of the South striker.
Scottish Division One side Dundee were linked with the 27 year old last week but were ruled out due to the Swans’ demands.
According to the Scottish Evening Telegraph, Swansea want to be paid Dobbie’s wages in full, reportedly worth £6k per week, should he go on loan.
McGhee said: “I know where there are lots of players where there is no competition for them, but they are not the players we want.
“We’ve got to get involved in that market and try to find ways of bringing players like that.
“The fact that occasionally they will got to the Championship, there is nothing we can do about that. We just have to go on and look at the next target.
“Stephen Dobbie was mentioned and he is a consideration and that remains the case. But we do have other targets so we are considering them.”
