The Swansea City midfielder has yet to feature in the league this season – his one appearance having come in the Carling Cup win over Barnet at the Liberty

And Paulo Sousa's last signing at the Swans has been told by Brendan Rodgers that he is unlikely to feature in the near future and they seem to have agreed that a loan move away may be beneficial for the player.

"It was disappointing to see Paulo go because he was the man that brought me in

"But the lads have done well under Brendan and it's been hard to get an opportunity to show him what I can do.

"I think it's going to be hard for me to do anything here at the moment with the way the squad is.

"I've spoken to the gaffer a couple of times asking whether I would feature. He told me it would be hard to fit me in with all the midfielders he has.

"I said I'd like to go out on loan in order to get myself some games and prove that I am good enough to feature in his squad.

"There have been a few interested clubs, but nothing concrete just yet.

"We should know in the next couple of days hopefully.

"You can't just sulk about it. You work hard and hope your chance comes," said Donnelly.

"I could be in a much worse situation. Of course I want to play here, but I don't think I'm that close to team selection, so hopefully I'll get a chance to get some games somewhere else.

"At the moment I'm not involved, but I'm not going to give up on that.

"I have three years to prove myself, and that gives me some time to do that.

"I want to go away, score as many goals as I can and force the gaffer into calling me back. That's what I hope going out on loan can do for me.

"I'm hoping to show people the quality I have."
