The West Ham man will go straight into the Swansea City squad for tomorrow's game against Scunthorpe at the Liberty having arrived yesterday on a loan deal.

His arrival marked the end of a long pursuit by Rodgers who had to move on Shefki Kuqi to make room for the striker.

"I am absolutely delighted to get Frank," Rodgers told the Evening Post.

"We have seen already what a massive asset Scott Sinclair can be for this club, and now we have another player with big potential.

"Frank's slightly younger and he is a different type of player, but he is another one who will excite the crowd.

"He will be up there with Scott in terms of pace and he is a real, real handful.

"I put Frank in the Chelsea reserve team when he was 16, and I will never forget a training game we had when he was a kid.

"Chelsea had just signed (Branislav) Ivanovic for £10 million and he was marking him in that session.

"What Frank did took us all by surprise — he was absolutely incredible for a young guy.

"I have spoken to (former West Ham assistant boss) Steve Clarke about Frank and he said he was fantastic in the games he played," Rodgers added.

"I know (West Ham manager) Avram (Grant) rates him highly, too, but he needs to be out playing games.

"He will give us power, pace and mobility, and that type of player doesn't come around too often.

"Some players have great ability but don't have the physical attributes, but Frank is a great specimen.

"And in terms of adapting to Swansea, I know he will be fine. He is a good boy who will have no problem fitting in.

"You can attract players to the club, but sometimes you might not be able to afford the wages

"If you are looking at our team now, it would frighten you," he said.

"With the pace and penetration we have on both sides, we are starting to develop and home away, we can be very difficult to play against."
