Monk told the Evening Post “Everyone’s going to point to us missing Scott because of the pace he brings, the goals he’s scored and the status he’s got at the moment
“But it’s a team game. At the end of the day we’ve got a good squad here, good players and if one of our chances had gone in no-one would be saying that now.
“I don’t think there was a lack of creativity because we created enough chances to win the game.
“We just never seem to score a scrappy goal.
“People who watch us a lot realise it isn’t about just one person.
“He’s a big player for our team, but other players are capable.
“It’s not all about Scotty, but he’s scoring goals for fun at the moment so with the form he’s in you are going to miss that.
“But give respect to the other guys. It just wasn’t our day in front of goal.
“We probably weren’t at our sharpest, although I thought we defended pretty well, to be fair,” said Monk. “In the second half it could have gone either way because we were both pushing for it.
“Dobbs had a great chance in the first half and I thought that would go in with the form he’s in at the moment.
“If that goes in it’s a different game.”
Monk added: “We’ve played the last three games away and done a lot of travelling. That’s not an excuse, but it does contribute towards things.
“We had a threat and they probably could have nicked it as well so I thought a draw was a fair result. Chances-wise you’d probably say it was us who deserved it, but it was minimal between the sides.
“When it’s a day like that I think it’s important you don’t lose the game. A couple of years ago we might have lost that from pushing up too much. We kept our heads and got a point.”
