Rodgers had just seen his side complete a victory over his previous club – making it two away wins on the bounce after such a poor record over the end of last season and the beginning of this.

Speaking to the official website after the game, Brendan said “We showed terrific quality and resilience over the 90 minutes

“I thought we were a real threat going forward, especially in the first-half, and our passing at times was fantastic.

“They came at us after the break, which I knew they would, and we had to dig in. But we held out really well and came away with a fantastic result.

“Reading are a good side who don’t lose many at home. And it showed how well we did because that was our first win at Reading in 25 years.

“Adam is a terrific ‘keeper in one on one situation,” added Rodgers. “But I thought Scott kept his composure well and showed great quality.

“I think he has learnt from the one on one situations he has found himself in this season, such as at Norwich. He makes a difference for us, but that’s why we bought him.

“I thought we controlled the game up until half-time,” added Rodgers. “We always looked like scoring goals.

“While I knew Reading would come out strong for the second-half, Nathan (Dyer) and (Stephen) Dobbie had great opportunities to put the game to bed. But I was still pleased with the way we created the opportunities and on another day they would have gone in.”
