Chopra’s Cardiff entertain the Swans athe Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday and Chopra – who scored the winner when the two sides met there last season – insists that all focus is now on that game.
Cardiff are currently two points clear at the top of the league after an impressive run of form but with the Swans flying high themselves in 3rd place it promises to be a derby to remember and is eagerly anticipated by both clubs.
โEverybodyโs focus now is on the Swansea game,โ said Chopra in today’s Western Mail.
โI like playing derbies, having played in many derby victories and scored many derby goals. Scoring the winner against Swansea last season was a great feeling. It was a massive result for the team and huge for the fans as well.
โBeing a boy from Newcastle I know how special derby days are for the fans to take bragging rights. It was a real pleasure to score that goal.โ
Chopra was linked with a move away from the club in the summer but added โI was frustrated that we hadnโt brought players in, but I never wanted to leave Cardiff City,
โI just wanted the club to do something and I was speaking on behalf of a number of players. Iโm the kind of person who speaks his mind if I am not happy.
โAfter what we achieved last season, the next step is to go that one step further. We want to go for automatic promotion and get the chance to play Premier League football.โ
