Planet Swans ArchivesTate was dismissed along with the home side’s Clint Hill in the 4-0 defeat at QPR on Boxing Day and the Swans have now confirmed that they will follow QPR in appealing the referee’s decision.
Tate was sent off for what the referee indicated to be a head butt during the first half of the heavy defeat with the Swans already a goal down. QPR were incensed that he had escaped punishment following a foul on the edge of the penalty area – a foul that they deemed should be worthy of a yellow card as a minimum.
Tate’s appeal against the three match ban will be heard on Wednesday afternoon and could be extended if the FAW decide the appeal to be unsuccesful.
