The Swansea City defender will today be tasked with keeping quiet a Cardiff City attack that contains Michael Chopra, Craig Bellamy and Jay Bothroyd.ย ย Described as the best forward line in the Championshp, Williams will be looking to help keep them quiet for the second time this season – having seen them shut out in the first game at the Cardiff City Stadium.
And he also believes that Scott Sinclair, Nathan Dyer and Luke Moore can be equally as dangerous for opponents.
Williams told Wales on Sunday โEveryone talks about Cardiffโs front players โ and itโs fair enough because Bellamy, Chopra and Bothroyd would probably walk into any Premier League squad.
โI think Bothroyd is one of the best in the league and it will be good to go up against him after he missed the first game.
โThen you throw in people who can create from midfield like Aaron Ramsey and you can see why they get a lot of headlines.
โBut I think the guys weโve got up front are top players in their own right.
โIf anyoneโs watched us they will know our wide players have been brilliant all season and have been major threats.
โA lot of wingers can be accused of not keeping consistency and can flit in and out of a campaign.
โBut you look at the way Nath and Scotty have played and theyโve been on their games every week. They deserve massive credit.
โItโs going to happen for Luke a lot sooner rather than later.
โHeโs a good, good player and he possesses a lot of skills you canโt teach. People can point to the fact he hasnโt scored yet but heโs doing his job bringing others into the game brilliantly and thatโs probably more important in our team.
โHe showed what he can do against Bristol City but he will also be a goal threat.
โIโm sure he can be a big hit for us and a bit of a star.
โWeโre very much a team and we put that first, but Iโm not sure itโs an argument to say Cardiff v Swansea is the individual stars against a team of hard workers.
โI think a lot of the lads have made names for themselves by what weโve done as a side and are individual threats in their own right.
โWeโve come together as a team but thatโs allowed players to shine. However you want to put it, itโs two good sides going for it.
โEvery one has been getting bigger and bigger,โ he admitted.
โThatโs not people just hyping it up because you only have to look at the positions weโre in to see itโs right.
โBut then again, we could both be playing Norwich and it would be a huge game.
โThe fact is we are two teams right up the top of the league going head-to-head. We both want the points and stop the other team taking them.
โIt should be a great game and none of us can wait because we know what it means.โ
