The Swansea City manager will join forces in the summer with his Coventry City counterpart but not before he has completed an equally difficult climb as he hopes to lift the Swans into the Premier League.
โBoth him and I are climbing Kilimanjaro this summer, it will be a long climb but thereโs many more challenges before that,โ Rodgers told the Western Mail
“We have been busy so we haven’t spoken about it yet but I’m sure we will be touching base about it after the game.
โIโm sure we will chat about it on the way up but we will probably find it tough when we are fighting through the blizzards,โ laughed Rodgers.
โAidy wonโt be too concerned about that. Iโm sure he will be concerned about winning games, how you arrive there is irrelevant.
โI know Aidy quite well and he is a terrific young manager. He did an outstanding job at Watford. When I went in there afterwards I realised the job he did there.
โHe took a club that was on its knees and got them promoted to the Premier League
“Then he went to Colchester and stabilised them before getting his chance in this league again.
“He is like myself, we are up and coming and trying to establish ourselves in the game for many years.
“He has a philosophy on football, I have my own but we both like to win games.
“There is no right or wrong and that’s the beauty of football.
“I don’t say what we do is the best.ย All I know is we have a philosophy here which is a fantastic model to work with and play.
โItโs a great comfort knowing you can go to any arena, any jungle, in this league and win games. It gives you great hope as a manager.
โPeople probably look at the Middlesbrough result as even better now after they went to Millwall and won 3-2.
โFor us to go there and score four goals shows the level of performance.
โFrom our perspective itโs very simple, we have the ability to win games home and away
โEven though we havenโt always picked up the results our performances away from home have normally been good.
โI said at the beginning that if we kept our performance level I would be very happy because it was just a few tweaks to the structure that would turn those losses into wins.
โWe controlled a lot of games. We are right up in there in terms of teams who have won away from home. Thereโs only one other team (Cardiff) who sit equal with us in terms of away games won.
“Coventry is a very important game for us after an outstanding performance at the weekend.
“We got that feeling a couple of days ago and we want to keep it.ย They will want to win their home games, they will be motivated to get back winning and playing well.”
