Swansea City's captain on the night revealed that Rodgers had a go at his team after the 1-1 draw with Watford on Tuesday night – the manager unhapy at the way he felt his side had thrown away important points in the promotion race.
"He was angry, perhaps more than he’s been before,” revealed Tate in today's Western Mail.
“He knew we were in control and, although there might have been some tired legs out there, we could have stopped that goal and not let it happen.
“They’ve scored from the one real chance they’ve had and we had to take it on the chin.
“He’s had a go at us which he’s not done a lot this season – and he’s had a go at pretty much everyone.
“And with 10 games to go – and 10 big games – he’s probably right to.
“We’re still looking good and what happened against Watford won’t affect our confidence at the moment,” said Tate.
“Despite us throwing it away a little, we know there was very little wrong with that performance and it’s almost a fluke of a goal because he’s actually mis-hit the cross and landed right at the striker’s feet.
“We have to get ourselves right, but we also have to accept that these things happen and the results all through the division on Tuesday show there’s going to be twists and turns right the way through this race.
“There’s no point saying we’ve drawn a game at home when we should be winning because it doesn’t work like that. If it did, this would be easy and you have to win the next game wherever it is.
“We’re not worried about what’s happening behind us because when you start looking over your shoulder is when you can start to worry.
“For us, it’s about pushing on and catching who’s ahead of us.
“We’re not going to win every game from now on in – but neither is anyone else. There will be ups and downs, but the important thing is that come the 10th game we’ve still got a chance of it.”
