The Swansea City midfielder scored his second goal in as many goals on Tuesday night only to see the Swans pegged back by Hull City in the 1-1 draw.
The result leaves them two points adrift of second placed Cardiff City as the race for the Premier League heads for an exciting climax with just three points seperating the four sides who appear to bve vying for the right to take automatic promotion alongside Queens Park Rangers.
For the three unlucky sides it will be the tension of the play offs and Gower knows that the Swans have to bounce back from their disappointment on Tuesday if they are to keep their hopes alive.
He told the Western Mail “It was nice to get on the scoresheet again, but I’m not as elated as I was on Saturday
“The main thing at this stage of the season is to get the three points, but we didn’t quite get over the line.
“We’re a point closer to where we want to be, but it just puts that bit more pressure on Saturday.
“We need to go to Burnley and get a win. Our away form has put pressure on our home form and we’ve produced at home … so the result puts pressure on our away form next.
“I’m sure the players will respond in the right way and we will be going to Burnley to get the three points.
“I would have thought they are out of it, but they’re still a good side with quality players and they aren’t going to roll over.
“They’ve got a passionate crowd up there and we’ll be in for a tough game again, but we’re up for the challenge.
“To go in front and then concede is very disappointing, but we tended to sit back a bit, I don’t know why that was.
“After the elation of Saturday and taking so much time to break down Hull, maybe there were a few tired legs out there.
“We sat back a bit and invited them on and they were lucky to get the goal with a few deflections, but it deflated us.
“Once you get that buzz back of scoring a goal you are that little bit more confident,” he said.
“The goal against Hull was another good one and hopefully I can score a couple more before the end of the season.
“I was known to get a few goals at Southend, but obviously it hasn’t happened for me here and that’s played on my thoughts.
“The way the manager has put his confidence in me has given me more self belief.
“He has taken a bit of weight off my shoulders by the fact that I haven’t had to base my performances around getting goals.
“By selecting me every week in front of Leon Britton, Darren Pratley and Andrea Orlandi shows I’m playing well and I can only take encouragement from it.”
