The Swansea City captain beieves that the team will not give up in their quest for a place in the top division for next season.
Four successive away defeats have dampened hopes of a top two place and it is looking extremely likely that the season will be extended beyond May 7th as the Swans look set to enter the end of season lottery that is the play offs.
Monk though believes the Swans can still win promotion and told the Evening Post "We'll keep going, we'll keep trying, we'll keep fighting to the end and you never know in football
"It's mad the way this league has gone this season and, the way it is, you're never out of it.
"Of course, it's a tough ask with Cardiff and Norwich winning. We're going to need results to go for us and you're relying on other people to fail.
"Last year we didn't make the play-offs but we're in a great position to do so this time and we've got to make sure we consolidate that.
"If the top two does become available again we've got to be in a position to grab it but, if not, we've got to make sure we're in the play-offs.
"We'll try to win as many of those last four games as possible and if we do go into the play-offs we'll try to take that momentum with us.
"How did we end up losing a game like that?" said Monk. "I don't think their players believed they came away with the win.
"It was an own goal and one of the softest penalties you're ever going to see.
"This was the best we've played away from home for a little while. The effort and commitment was all there for us to go on — how we weren't two or three goals up in that first half I'll never know.
"We're not one of those teams or groups of lads who get down, thinking that the world is against us, but you do need a bit of luck here and there."
