The Swansea City defenders wants to see more names added to the capture of Danny Graham from Watford and Steven Caulker from Tottenham Hotspur as the team prepare for their first season in the Premier League.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Williams said “We need a bit more, just to give the squad a bit more depth.
“It’s a long season in the Premier League and sometimes you see teams, like Blackpool last season, who fade in the second half. We don’t want to do that.
“I’m sure the board and the gaffer have got their targets and we need a bigger squad with more depth.
“The gaffer has been away but now he is back we should see a bit more activity and some new faces."
Speaking about the capture of Graham, Williams added “The main thing he brings is goals. He was top scorer in the Championship last season. Hopefully he can do that in the Premier League next season and, having played against him a few times over the last few years, I know he is a tough cookie.
“He has got an eye for goal and everybody needs someone like that.
“The club signed him early and £3.5m is a lot of money for a club like us.
“It has showed everyone what we are about, what we are trying to do and it has given everyone a bit of a boost. Everyone is still buzzing from the play-off final and then to sign the top scorer in the Championship was nice. Everyone is looking out for more signings.”
And on speculation of his own future – “I take it as a compliment. I don’t know anything about it myself. I am just enjoying what we did at the end of last season and my summer break,” added Williams. I don’t get involved in it. I had a brilliant season last year, I’m good friends with all the boys, so I just get on with it.” Williams believes Swansea’s passing style – which was lauded as the best in the Championship last season – can help them survive in the top flight.
He said: “It’s what we will be trying to do; we don’t know how to play any other way.
“The players we’ve got fit the system so we are going to go there, do our thing, and see how it goes.”
