Ash – We Can Take Points Off Anyone

Ashley Williams insists that the Swans can take points off anyone as they prepare for their Premier League debut

The Swansea City defender will go into the first game of the new season with a contract extension under his belt and knowing that most pundits have already written off his team mates as relegation certainties.

But Williams insists that the Swans have what it takes to take points off anyone in the Premier League and he said “Mentally we have to remember that we are here to win games

“We have to ignore what everyone else says. Outside of our group, it will be a bit of a circus.

“People will be saying how great it is to be playing against these big names, but we have to think about getting results.

“It’s 11 men v 11 men and we feel we can go and take points off anyone.

“It’s unbelievable really when you look at the players they have got

“They are a world away from us — they could put out any number of top-class players.

“We will have to turn up and wait to see the team sheet, and then you can get zoned in on who you are marking.

“We have to have a gameplan and, if we get it right, I don’t see why we can’t get a result.

“They are a top side, but there is no point being in this league if we are just coming along to enjoy it and not thinking we can win games.

“It will be a great feeling if we can take points off sides like City,” Williams says.

“Obviously we will have to raise our game against the big four, but we have to believe we can take points.”
