Brendan Rodgers does not believe that his shopping is finished as he contemplates what could be a busy deadline day at the Liberty
And Rodgers made the first of those final moves last night when he completed the signing of German goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel on a two year deal to complete the three goalkeepers in his squad.
And he is still looking at more options today – options that is likely to include at least one but very possibly two defenders moving in at the Liberty.
One of those could be Middlesbrough captain Matthew Bates after it was reported that the Swans had tabled a £2m bid for the defender whilst local news reports also suggest that World Cup stars Romaric and Raffik Halliche on the Swans radar.
The rumours suggest that Halliche is the more likely of the two to put pen to paper at the club but Romaric is looking at a new club and the Swans are hoping that they can pull off a decent transfer coup.
Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury is another who has been long term on the Swans radar and he still looks set for an exit from Arsenal despite a late appearance in their 8-2 drubbing at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Rodgers said “I was looking at bringing in two defenders so my objective hasn’t changed. We’re also trying to get one or two other things done so hopefully we can get it sorted before the window closes.”
Whatever happens it promises to be a busy day at the Liberty Stadium so let’s see what develops.
