Brendan Looking Forward To Seeing Dorus

When Brendan Rodgers glances across to the home bench on Saturday he will see a familiar face sat there watching on

That face will be of former Swans goalkeeper Dorus De Vries who is bench warming for Wolves in the Premier League with his only two appearances coming so far in the Carling Cup.

And while those two appearances have resulted in clean sheets he is very much back up to Wayne Hennessy in the Wolves goal in the league matches.

Rodgers told the Evening Postย “I think as a footballer you can only go with your gut feeling

“Dorus’s gut feeling was to go, and only time will tell on whether he ends up thinking about that in the future.

“It depends. If he goes there for three years and doesn’t play so much, it may be something he might look back on.

“It’s early stages in Dorus’s Wolves career

“He has gone to a club who have been in the Premier League for the last couple of seasons.

“He will maybe see them as a more established club and will be hoping he gets an opportunity.

“He knew when he signed for them he was going to fight for his place, and I’ve got no doubt he will provide stiff competition for Wayne Hennessey.

“But only time will tell whether Wolves will be a good move for him or not.

“I am sure in the future he will get an opportunity and then he has to take that chance.

“For me Dorus is a Premier League keeper, in the right team.

“Everyone knows what Dorus’s strengths are โ€” ability to organise the game from behind, great shot-stopper and outstanding professional.

“If he is playing in a team that allows him to showcase his talents, then for sure he can play at the top level.

“I am looking forward to seeing him,” Rodgers says.

“He was a real good guy and a good player to work with, and he will go down in history as far as this club are concerned. He was outstanding for me last season.”
