Monk – I Am Not Thinking Of Relegation

Garry Monk says that the Swans must make sure the two points dropped on Saturday do not cost them but insists that he is not thinking of relegation

It was definitely a case of two points dropped for the Swans on the weekend as they let slip a two goal lead in the last six minutes to come away from Molineux with just a point in their bag but Monk insists that the Swans are ready to move on from the disappointment and ensure that it does not cost them come next May.

We need to make sure the two points doesn’t cost us at the end of the season but I am not even thinking about relegation,” said the skipper in tonight’s Evening Post

“We have the quality in the squad to do well in this league and we have shown that.

“If we can come to a team like Wolves, who have been in the Premier League for a long time, and play them off the park, we’ll be okay.

“Saturday was a real injustice but it’s got to be a learning curve for us.

“We are bitterly disappointed, but I do realise that we’ve set down another marker. If there are not three worse teams than us this season I will shoot myself.

“Maybe it was a bit of inexperience,” added Monk. “It wasn’t intentional, sometimes you have to use your brain a bit.

“You can’t always shout and tell someone because it’s so hard to hear in big stadiums so they need to take it on themselves.”
