Brendan Rodgers is looking to make the Premier League respect the Swans by securing their safety by the end of the season
Rodgers takes his side to Anfield today in search of their first 3 points on the road this season but with his side sitting nicely in 10th place in the Premier League table.
That position has been achieved by a good home record over the opening weeks and Rodgers saysย “I think you have to earn respect as a Premier League club through your performance level over a period of time,
“History shows you that not many teams get up from the Championship and stay up, but we need to earn that respect by making that happen for us.
“We have done well in this opening period of the season, and that has earned us some respect. But the challenge we face is to sustain that over a long period.
“The star of our team is the team,” he declared.
“That’s something we have talked about since the day I walked into this club.
“We have got quality all over the field, but what we achieve will be achieved as a team.
“I was watching Sky this week and, in the games leading up to our game, it was all about how the teams who had won had played very well,” he said.
“But when it got to us, it was all about how Bolton had defended poorly, but then that’s nothing new.
“It was the same last season โ we are little old Swansea and teams should be rolling us over.
“But I think we have shown in the first ten games of this year that we are here to fight to stay in the division.”
