Joe Set For Return At Newcastle?

Joe Allen could be set for an immediate return to the side at Newcastle tomorrow

Allen sat out last weekend’s victory over Fulham thanks to his late red card at Blackburn but could make an immediate return tomorrow at the expense of Luke Moore.

Although Brendan Rodgers was not giving anything away in terms of his team plans for the weekend, he seemed to be dropping a hint to the Western Mail when he saidย “We will look at it and assess it

“Joe is a real talent and he has been a real figurehead of the team this season.

“His understanding of where space is puts him right up there with the very best at this level and the ability he has shown to take control of a game has been incredible.

“If a player of his quality has to come back in then it will be no hardship for us, but then the players coped admirably without him last Saturday.

“We want to end that record and this is a game we go into with no fear,” Rodgers said.

“We know have the game to win games away from home at this level, but what we must do is get the little details right.

“There was a great example of that against Fulham. We’d talked about set-pieces and corners after Blackburn, and there was an incident in the Fulham game where it looked like they were about to put the ball into the box.

“But we shut off the cross and they had to pass it back, then we closed down that player and the next pass went off the pitch for a throw to us.

“We needed to do that at Newcastle just like we did at home.”
