Caulker – We Can Give Spurs A Run For Their Money

Steven Caulker insists that the Swans can come up trumps against his parent club as the 2011 fixtures draw to a close on Saturday

The terms of the loan deal mean that Caulker must sit out the weekend clash but he will be an interested spectator from the stands as the Swans seek to defend a proud home record that has seen them beaten just once this season.

Caulker told the Western Mailย โ€œItโ€™s unfortunate I canโ€™t play because of the deal, but it should be a fantastic game because both teams need points for different reasons.

โ€œSpurs are a fantastic team with great depth in the squad and there is no reason why they canโ€™t go on and push on for the title.

โ€œAnd obviously my heart is with Spurs because Iโ€™ve been there since I was a kid so Iโ€™m rooting for them this year.

โ€œBut I said when I signed here my aim is to keep Swansea in the Premier League. Itโ€™s a difficult one for me, but Iโ€™m hoping for three points for Swansea so we can keep ourselves clear and push on.

โ€œThe boys have got what it takes to get a result. Spurs have a fantastic squad and any team would find it hard to stop them, but the lads here will be confident.

“I think the way we have played this year, especially at home, has been fantastic. Manchester United came here and only won narrowly so there is no reason why we canโ€™t give Spurs a run for their money. It will be an interesting game.

โ€œYou have to say it was two points dropped,โ€ Caulker added when talking about Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with QPR. โ€œCertainly with the way we have been at home we would have hoped for a win.

โ€œWe had a big shout for a penalty at the end that could have made a difference and the boys were a bit upset about that, but thatโ€™s football.

โ€œThings didnโ€™t go our way this time, but we will look to put that right as quickly as possible.โ€
