Arsene Wenger – not surprisingly – would not give the Swans too much credit after his side outpassed and outplayed his at the Liberty
The trophieless manager was in his usual style when talking after the game and refusing to give credit on a day when his side was – quite simply – second best.
The game was difficult because Swansea played well and it was decided by some strange decisions,” said the Arsenal manager.
“The first one was the referee giving the penalty. That was complete imagination โ it was a good dive, so well done to the player who did it.
“From then on I felt there were other turning points. When we got back to 2-2 we made a defensive mistake straightaway. There was a lack of appreciation of the ball.
“Our defensive performance was not good enough. That’s why we lost the game.
“When we got back to 2-2 I felt we had a good chance to win the game,” Wenger moaned.
“We were looking dangerous, but their keeper kept them in the game with some great saves. We also missed some unbelievable chances, which was difficult to understand and explain.
“Well done to Swansea apart from all that. They played well and they deserved to win.”
