Michel Vorm believes that the Swans still have a lot to prove despite their impressive Premier League form this season

Vorm will line up against Manchester City this afternoon almost 7 months on from his baptism of fire in the Premier League when he was part of the Swans side that lost 4-0 at the Ethiad Stadium back in August.

But since then the Swans have won more friends then they have lost with their brand of football and go into the game 11 points clear of the relegation zone against the side currently top of the Premier League.

Vorm told the Western Mail: “When we lost 4-0 I was thinking, ‘I hope it’s not like this every week’.

“I made a lot of saves but I would rather have nothing to do and win the match.

“But the difference between the beginning of the season and now is so big.

“Everyone has seen things have changed and it was a good lesson for us.

“It was my debut and I have fond memories. It was also the first game for a lot of the lads for Swansea playing in the Premier League.

“A lot has happened since that first game until now, we have improved considerably.

“We still have something to prove,” admitted Vorm.

“We played Man City in the first match of the season and they killed us. It’s something we want to make up for.

“We want to show people we can play against a team like Man City, it will be a tough one because I think they are the best team in the Premier League.

“But we have nothing to lose and we’ll have to play as we did against Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea. It won’t be easy for them because they know the way we play.

“We can win against anybody, especially at home. We have only lost to Manchester United and Norwich there.

“We beat Arsenal, we drew with Chelsea in the last seconds and we’ve played some really good matches.

“Manchester City will win the title.

“They have a great squad of 22, 23 top players. Even if they get injuries they can change players with world class quality.

“I don’t think we are safe yet but if you look at the whole season, I don’t think people will say that Swansea are a team going out of the Premier League.

“I have a lot of confidence in this team. We lost two games in a row but we didn’t panic and came back with a win at Wigan.

“At the beginning of the season we kept a lot of clean sheets both at home and away but the last clean sheet before Wigan was a long time ago.

“We got to nine and then we were kept waiting for number 10. But we worked hard and got our rewards.

“It’s very important for us. It gives me extra satisfaction as a goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet.

“Even if you win 2-1 or draw with Chelsea in the last second then you start to think when is the next one coming?

“Aston Villa was the last time before Wigan so it’s important for the defenders and a goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet.”
